Can a lady slaughter her qurbani herself ?

Question:

Is it permissible for a woman to personally perform the act of slaughtering an animal for the purpose of qurbani (religious sacrifice)? What are the religious guidelines and cultural practices regarding this matter?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب وبالله التوفيق والنجاح

According to Islamic teachings, a woman is permitted to personally slaughter her own Qurbani (Uluhiyyah animal) during the designated time of Eid al-Adha.

Islamic jurisprudence allows women to slaughter the animal.

However, it is best to have a male slaughterer instead of a female.

تَحِلُّ ذَبِيحَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ بِلَا خِلَافٍ لِحَدِيثِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْمَذْكُورِ فِي الْكِتَابِ وَذَكَاةُ الرَّجُلِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ ذَكَاتِهَا لِمَا ذَكَرَهُ الْمُصَنِّفُ وَسَوَاءٌ كَانَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ حُرَّةً أَوْ أَمَةً طَاهِرًا أَوْ حَائِضًا أَوْ نُفَسَاءَ مُسْلِمَةً أَوْ كِتَابِيَّةً فَذَبِيحَتُهَا فِي كُلِّ هَذِهِ الْأَحْوَالِ حَلَالٌ نَصَّ عَلَيْهِ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَاتَّفَقُوا عَلَيْهِ
