Performing Umrah for the deceased and period of Iddah

Question:

Assalamualaikum. 1. Is it permissible to perform Umrah on behalf of a deceased person? 2. If so, should the deceased be a relative or can we perform these for any deceased Muslim (including Rasulullah SAW)? 3. Would you also please list any amal that is NOT permissible to do as isal-ul-thawab? 4. Should a widow start observing Iddah from the day her husband passed away or 3 days after the death has happened? 5. On the death of a husband/wife, can the spouse perform ghusl on the janazah? جزاك الله احسن الجزاء

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب وبالله التوفيق والنجاح

,2 -It is permissible to perform Umrah for any deceased Muslim.
NB-It is mandatory for the person who is performing the umrah should have completed his own umrah.

3-The reward of dua, charity, and hajj done for a deceased person will be given to him. And about other than these deeds there is disagreement among scholars to do isal sawab in that. but, if a person make dua for isal sawab after doing any deed(dua for sending misl sawab towards deceased person), he will get that reward.

4-Idhah starts from the time that husband passed away.
